Blog Post #11 Viral Marketing

I read on Wikipedia an article for Viral Marketing that interested me very much showing me all of the different types of ways things can go viral and how much money companies put into everyday advertisements we see on YouTube and T.V. to help spread awareness for their products. In today’s day and age ads are everywhere you can’t go without watching a YouTube video, movie, or game without having an interruption of some phone company or new slap chop. slap chop. It’s with the rise of the internet and technology that viral marketing became more of a strategy implementing by big companies to promote their new products through social media platforms like Facebook, Instagram, Twitter. They are ads even in games and that’s why so any companies like Facebook and snapchat are worth billions of dollars due to company’s advertisements. Before this assignment I never really thought much about viral marketing but after reading this article I realize how prevalent it is in everyday activities. I always just thought about ads as something that was par for the course. This article offers some ideas for project 3 with the amount of exposure social media and how information is disseminated. One thing to keep in mind when looking at advertisements is to take everything worth a grain of salt because in the end business’s all want one thing and that is money.
