Blog Post #4 Choose Your own Chapter

In all my years of writing papers from elementary to college I've always known that revision was an integral part of the writing process and yet it has been something I’ve struggled with for as long as i can remember. For this reason i found chapter nine in the book particularly interesting because here they make known the distinction between revising and remixing your work. Revising specifically involves the restructuring and improving of word structure, grammar, and making your work legible. While on the other hand remixing your work is repurposing ideas either yours or someone else to fit into a different genre and become its own thing. This is important to understand because while there is always going to be a better revision time and time again there are so many ways to re=word or find synonyms to get across what you're trying to say, but when you remix your work you can express a different meaning.

In all my years I’ve always had trouble with revision; i can't get past my first sentence revising the sentence as I'm writing it and finding a better word or needing to know everything i write before i write it. Its through revision and remixing of your work that you can get your point across to many people and better communicate what you’re trying to say. Getting your point across is not always easy so it's very important that you follow some strategies outlined in the book like having a peer review the work and give notes on it. You should always ask questions and by allowing other people to help it will strengthen your argument. So don't worry how many drafts you have or how many times you rewrite your paper just allow yourself to explore the idea fully and work to make that point as strong as it can be.
